Illini Central Middle School

Students entering 5th through 8th grade this fall are invited to participate in the upcoming ICMS cross country season. Practice will begin on Monday, August 5th. All practices before students return to the classroom will be held from 8:00 am - 9:00 am. We will meet by the track shed (between the softball field and track). Once school is in session, practices will be after school from 3:15 pm - 4:45 pm. Our first meet will take place on Saturday, August 24th. Please make sure all physicals are complete and athletic fees are paid. If you have any questions over anything cross country related, please email Coach Darcy Toland (dtoland@illinicentral.org). ICMS Softball practice will be starting on Monday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Did you know that students entering kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade must have physicals? Did you know anyone participating in school sports must also have a physical? You can receive a free physical in Lincoln! More details about the free event are on the graphic.

Due to a conflict, the times for the Illini Central Open House have changed. The open house for high school, middle school & grade school will now take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The date remains the same Tuesday, August 13th.

Teachers will share with their students on the 1st day of school if additional items are needed based on the needs in those classes. Middle School Cross Country Informational Meeting There will be an informational meeting for parents/guardians on either Tuesday, July 16th or Thursday, July 18th at 6:00 pm for all new and returning runners for middle school cross country this Fall. You only need to attend one session as the information shared will be the same at both. We will meet at the track shed (between the track and softball diamond). Cross country is open to any incoming 5th through 8th graders. We will talk about this upcoming season, paperwork needing to be completed, sports physicals, and answer any questions that might arise. Middle School Baseball Practice Start Date Middle School students entering 6th, 7th and 8th grades are invited to participate in the 2024 Fall baseball season. Middle School baseball practice will start on Wednesday, August 7th from 10:00 am - 12:00pm at the school’s baseball field (if it rains we will be inside). Make sure you have an updated physical handed into the High school office or given to Coach Thomas that day, plus the activity fee has also been paid, this must be completed in order to participate in practice. Proper baseball attire please: Hats, t-shirts (short or long sleeved) no cut offs, baseball pants and proper footwear for baseball activity. I am excited for this upcoming season and look forward to teaching the game of baseball to our future baseball stars. Chromebook turn in begins tomorrow, Friday May 24th. The 8th grade students will be turning their device & charger in during class with Mrs. Giesler. The Juniors, Sophomores & Freshmen who will not be taking Final exams next week need to turn their device & charger into my room before they leave tomorrow. Any students in the high school who will be taking Finals should drop their device & charger off whether on Tuesday or Wednesday when are done for the year. The 5th graders will be turning their devices & chargers in on Wednesday morning, May 29th. Today, the construction crew began demolition on the middle and high school office to prepare for a new secure entry! Currently the office staff are sharing a cozy classroom space for the summer.

Next week, ICMS students will have the opportunity to participate in a fundraiser for Prader-Willi Syndrome research, Pennies for PWS. Students are invited to pay $1 each day to participate in the dress up days listed in the graphic below. Each WIN class has set a fundraising goal and there will be an afternoon of competitions on Friday for classes that reach their goal. There are prizes each day for the best dressed student and the best dressed WIN class, as well as a prize for the class who raises the most money. We are able to accept donations in the form of cash, check (made out to IC) or directly to FPWR at our website https://impact.fpwr.org/Pennies All money raised will be donated to the Foundation for Prader Willi Research and donations will be matched by an anonymous donor! Students are so excited about the annual ICGS Field Day, sponsored by the ICGS PTO! We're still looking for some parent/guardian volunteers to help the PTO put on this outstanding event. A big day on the construction site… the concrete for the gym floor is being poured today! The final gym floor will be wood, but the concretehas to be done first.The mezzanine (for the air handler unit) was also poured this week. It’s looking more and more like a school!
