Illini Central/Greenview Middle School Girls' Basketball practice will be starting soon with a tentative start date of September 2nd. The coaches would like to have contact information together for all of the girls planning on playing this season as soon as possible. Illini Central Schools will dismiss on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. for staff professional development. Afternoon PreK will still meet, but it will also dismiss at 2:00 p.m.

Please see the attached video of the 2024-25 ICMS/ICHS activities rules presentation. This video was created in place of the annual sports meeting that was held in the fall. Any student that plans on participating in an extracurricular activity is expected to view the presentation, along with a parent/guardian. All 6-12 students will also have access to this video in their school email. Students and parents will need to sign off that they viewed this video, along with the other requirements. With school starting tomorrow, I wanted to remind everyone of the information about traffic patterns that was shared previously. Additionally, parking/stalling is no longer allowed on N. West Avenue in front of the school or on the block of Pine St. between N. West and Irving. Please use the east parking lot to drop off students and the west parking lot to pick up students after school. School starts in a week and with the construction on Chestnut/Rt.10 still underway, we wanted to communicate the traffic flow during school hours. We are trying to prevent traffic through the construction area of Chestnut/Rt.10 as well as trying to avoid traffic backing up on N. West Ave and Chestnut/Rt.10. With the added traffic on N. West and Pine St., it is very important for student safety that parents do not drop off or pick up their children on these streets. Please follow the guidelines below. For car drop off in the morning, cars should enter from the north into the main parking lot following the same procedures as last year. Doors will not be unlocked until 7:35am. After school, parents picking up students will need to enter from the west on Chestnut/Rt.10 and turn left into the back parking lot. We will follow the same procedures as we have in the past—cars will form two lines, and students will be sent to the appropriate car. Leaving the parking lot, drivers will need to follow the signs as far as allowed turns. The back (west) parking lot and the new exit on to Chestnut/Rt10 will be right turn only (turning west on Chestnut/Rt.10). The south exit of the high school parking lot will be left turn only for drivers to exit either going north or east on Pine. Please refer to the graphic for more details. It’s officially August, and school starts in less than two weeks! We compiled some helpful information all in one location to hopefully answer some of the most common questions. Remember...tomorrow Thursday, August 1st is New Student/In-Person Registration for this upcoming school year starting at 2 p.m. Enter the building through Door A (the main high school entrance) and someone will be able to direct families where to go next.

Students entering 5th through 8th grade this fall are invited to participate in the upcoming ICMS cross country season. Practice will begin on Monday, August 5th. All practices before students return to the classroom will be held from 8:00 am - 9:00 am. We will meet by the track shed (between the softball field and track). Once school is in session, practices will be after school from 3:15 pm - 4:45 pm. Our first meet will take place on Saturday, August 24th. Please make sure all physicals are complete and athletic fees are paid. If you have any questions over anything cross country related, please email Coach Darcy Toland (dtoland@illinicentral.org). ICMS Softball practice will be starting on Monday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Did you know that students entering kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade must have physicals? Did you know anyone participating in school sports must also have a physical? You can receive a free physical in Lincoln! More details about the free event are on the graphic.

Due to a conflict, the times for the Illini Central Open House have changed. The open house for high school, middle school & grade school will now take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The date remains the same Tuesday, August 13th.

Teachers will share with their students on the 1st day of school if additional items are needed based on the needs in those classes. Middle School Cross Country Informational Meeting There will be an informational meeting for parents/guardians on either Tuesday, July 16th or Thursday, July 18th at 6:00 pm for all new and returning runners for middle school cross country this Fall. You only need to attend one session as the information shared will be the same at both. We will meet at the track shed (between the track and softball diamond). Cross country is open to any incoming 5th through 8th graders. We will talk about this upcoming season, paperwork needing to be completed, sports physicals, and answer any questions that might arise. Middle School Baseball Practice Start Date Middle School students entering 6th, 7th and 8th grades are invited to participate in the 2024 Fall baseball season. Middle School baseball practice will start on Wednesday, August 7th from 10:00 am - 12:00pm at the school’s baseball field (if it rains we will be inside). Make sure you have an updated physical handed into the High school office or given to Coach Thomas that day, plus the activity fee has also been paid, this must be completed in order to participate in practice. Proper baseball attire please: Hats, t-shirts (short or long sleeved) no cut offs, baseball pants and proper footwear for baseball activity. I am excited for this upcoming season and look forward to teaching the game of baseball to our future baseball stars.
