On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Illinois State Board of Education released guidance related to the start of the 2020-2021 school year. While the release of that guidance has generated many questions, we ask that you please give us time to read through the 60-page document and digest the information.
Opening school for student attendance this fall will be challenging for everyone. We will need to plan not only for instruction, but also for transportation, meals, health services, and many other variables. We can assure you that we have already considered many options prior to Tuesday’s release. Now that we have some specific guidelines to follow, we can complete our plans and share them with the community as soon as possible.
We understand that you need answers to the questions that you have. We ask that you remain patient while we work through this process. Next week, we will share a survey to families in order to get information that will provide us with your thoughts to help inform our decisions. We are confident that together we will create a plan that re-engages students in learning while maintaining a safe environment.
We will continue to keep you informed of the process. Our hope is that you and your family remain safe and healthy.
Thank you,
Mike Ward
