Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. Sexual harassment, which includes sexual assault and other sexual misconduct, is a form of sex discrimination. As a recipient of federal funds, Illini Central CUSD 189 complies with Title IX and has appointed Mrs. Jennifer Durbin as its Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for overall Title IX compliance, including oversight of the district’s centralized review, investigation, and resolution process for matters arising under the Board Policy. Mrs. Durbin’s contact information is listed below.
Any student, employee, or applicant for employment to the district who believes that they have been discriminated against on the basis of sex, in violation of Title IX, or has been a victim of sexual misconduct under the District’s Sexual Harassment Policy, may file a complaint with the Title IX Coordinator. Any staff member who is made aware of any potential sexual harassment situation must notify the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator will seek to resolve the complaint in a prompt and equitable manner.
Information on the District’s Title IX policies and training can be found online at https://www.illinicentral.org/page/title-ix-information.
