On Wednesday, April 27th, Illini Central seniors participated in the Reverse Career Fair. A reverse career fair flips the roles of a traditional job fair. Students present to other students, teachers, and community members in order to demonstrate what they have accomplished in high school, and what skills and experiences they have to offer future employers.
Students were graded by a team of teachers and employers and are required to include specific aspects from their previous work, including but not limited to their definition of success, career research, and resumes. They are also encouraged to include other significant works and projects that they are proud of from high school such as artwork, shop projects, etc.
The Reverse Career Fair is the culmination of the Capstone Project required for graduation from Illini Central. As part of the Capstone Project, freshmen begin exploring career opportunities through research, self-reflection, and other activities throughout the remainder of their high school experiences such as interviewing professionals, mock interviews, and financial planning. Students complete career-focused graded assignments embedded in coursework throughout their high school career.
If you have any questions about the Capstone Project, please contact Dr. Jennifer Durbin at jdurbin@illinicentral.org or 217-482-5180.
