Mr. Dunker

Welcome to the New Teacher Spotlight! Illini Central would like to introduce new teachers in the district. Today, we are highlighting Mr. Dunker.

Mr. Dunker has a fresh start as this is his first year teaching 5th grade.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security before switching and going back to school for teaching.

His motivation to work hard is trying to make every student's day as best as possible.

The most exciting part about Mr. Dunker's job is seeing what each day could bring and seeing students' progress.

The close community of the school district and constant support is what attracted him to Illini Central.

Mr. Dunker is from Mason City and has a wife, Kiersten and two dogs, Remington and Riley. But, if he could live anywhere it would be Montana.

His hobbies are hunting, fishing, watching sports and anything that involves being outside. His idea of a perfect day is spending time outdoors with his dogs.

Mr. Dunker's one piece of advice to his students is, “No one is perfect, that's why pencils have erasers; focus on the progress not perfection.”

Mr. Dunker would love to have met Theodore Roosevelt because he was a conservationist,  an outdoorsman, an inspirational leader and stood up for what was right.

Illini Central thanks Mr. Dunker for his dedication to the students at Illini Central!
