Remote learning has presented students, family and staff with a number of challenges. I want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication to making the best of this situation. We will continue to evaluate what is working and what needs to be changed as we finish out this school year.
One challenge that a number of our students face is reliable internet connectivity. Illini Central has received a number of hotspot devices that will allow students to access the internet from home. The district will provide these devices to our families free of charge for the duration of the school closure.
Last week, we began distribution of these devices to families that we knew had limited or no access to the internet. We have 18 devices remaining and would like to see them used by students and families. If your student could benefit from this, please call the school at 217-482-5180 extension 1815 and leave a message. We will distribute the hotspots in the order we receive the requests.
We are finalizing plans to make arrangements for students to pick up supplies and property from lockers and classrooms. Once we make a final plan, we will communicate it to you.
We know that there are still questions regarding graduation, 8th grade promotion, and prom. We will release that information once we make a final determination. We ask for your patience as we work through these issues.
One again, I want to thank everyone for their cooperation and commitment to our students during this time. Working together, I know that we will continue to serve our students. Please continue to stay healthy and safe.
